Mariah Carey takes a tumble onstage... then summons an assistant to remove her heels

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Balancing act: Mariah Carey loses her footing as she performs in Singapore

It's the moment every singer dreads - falling over while performing on stage.

Mariah Carey experienced just that during a concert in Singapore on Saturday.

The 40-year-old diva took a tumble as she belted out her song Make It Happen at a Formula 1 event.

Hitting the deck: Carey laughs as a backing dancer helps her to her feet

She ended up sitting on the stage before being helped up by one of her backing dancers.

As she was hoisted to her feet, Carey quickly joked: 'I meant to do that.'

But the Dreamlover singer was taking no chances and luckily an assistant was on hand to remove the vertiginous heels that no doubt contributed to her fall.

The female assistant removed her shoes as Carey continued to sing, before finishing the 90-minute performance barefoot.

The singer later tweeted: 'TY SO much to my fans in Singapore!!! Yeah, several hectic moments, (lol!)but I tried to swirl them into festive!.Love+ God Bless!'

Helping hand: Carey summons an assistant onto the stage

Carey has been married for two years to American Idol host Nick Cannon.

Rumours have been swirling that the singer is pregnant with their first child, but are yet to be confirmed by the star.

This summer Carey released a statement via her publicist, Cindi Berger, saying:
'I appreciate everyone's well wishes but I am very superstitious.

'When the time is right, everyone will know - even Cindi Berger.'

Diva: the assistant removes Carey's shoes while the singer continues to perform her song 'Make It Happen'

Cannon, 29, has also spoken out about the rumours.

'I've said it before and I'll say it time and time again – when my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her,' he said on his radio show in August.

Last week Carey confirmed she will be releasing a second Christmas album in November, sixteen years after releasing her first, titled Mariah Carey.

Such a Perfect Day for Susan Boyle after she is finally given permission to cover the Lou Reed classic

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjQK8KDUV8Aendofvid

[starttext]

By GEORGINA LITTLEJOHN

Perfect Day: Susan Boyle, seen here singing for Pope Benedict XVI last week, has been given permission to cover the Lou Reed classic for her new album

She was said to have been reduced to tears after she was denied permission to cover Lou Reed's Perfect Day on America's Got Talent.

But Susan Boyle has finally been granted permission to record the classic song and will appear on her second album.

Earlier this month, the Britain's Got Talent sensation was told that she couldn't sing the song on the US talent show.

Red tape: Lou Reed's people denied he turned SuBo's request down and it was just admin issues that got in the way

She allegedly left Los Angeles, where the show is filmed, in tears after she was denied permission to perform the song.

Initially it was believed that Reed himself turned her down with Simon Cowell wading in to the row on BBC radio 2.

He said: 'Two hours before she is going to perform it we get a phone call. Lou Reed will not allow her to sing Perfect Day ... [It] is so petty, so pathetic.'

But Reed's people denied that he had refused her permission and blamed it on red tape instead.

They said that due to a glitch, the song was not cleared for the American market in time for the show, something that had nothing to do with the former Velvet Underground member.

But everything has now worked out and Boyle will record a version of the song for her upcoming album.

Perfect Day will join Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah and Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House on the album, which is due out on November 9.

It will also include some Christmas songs and a duet with Boyle's own YouTube discovery, Amber Stassi.

Boyle said: 'I wanted there to be a mix of songs that would flow with all our moods this holiday season.'

Christmas hit: Susan Boyle's new album The Gift, which will include Perfect Day, is out in November

Enamoured: Katy Perry chats to Elmo during a cameo appearance on Sesame Street

Katy Perry and Russell Brand are building up to one of the most hotly anticipated celebrity weddings of the year.

But it seems that someone else has turned Katy's head in the run up to the big day.

Katy Perry has made a cameo appearance on children's show Sesame Street, which showed the singer chasing beloved character Elmo around a cartoon set to a child-friendly version of her hit Hot N Cold.

Hot n cold: Perry performed a modified version of her famous hit, with the lyrics talking about opposites

Dressed in a rather low-cut green dress and a veil - perhaps in reference to her upcoming nuptials - the lyrics were changed so that Elmo and Perry sang about opposites.

The 25-year-old singer pulled a series of over-the-top facial expressions as she asked the puppet if he wanted to play and watched him speed off.

In love: Perry chased Elmo around the studio after repeatedly asking him if he wanted to play

Bride-to-be: Perry wore a veil along with her low-cut green dress, which was perhaps a nod to her upcoming wedding

Perry shot the segment back in March.

'Sunny day today! I think I'm in lurv... Sorry rustyrockets!!' she tweeted at the time to fiance Russell Brand.

The I Kissed A Girl singer joins a long list of celebrities to appear on the show.

OTT: Perry's cartoon character style was right at home on the Sesame Street set

Past guests include David Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz, Ricky Gervais and Michella Obama.

The wholesome appearance is at odd with her wild hen weekend with Rihanna in Las Vegas.

On Sunday Perry tweeted: 'Signing up for a liver transplant now...'

Good sport: Perry played along on the children's TV show and sang with Elmo

Star-studded: Perry is among several big stars who have appeared on Sesame Street, including David Beckham, Cameron Diaz and Ricky Gervais

My torment at seeing another man bring up my children, by Gavin Henson

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOmSxdRkmj4endofvid

[starttext]

By Daily Mail Reporter

Performing together: Charlotte Church was on stage again with Jonathan Powell in Balham last night

Gavin Henson has spoken of his agony at seeing his children being brought up by another man following his split from Charlotte Church.

In his first full interview since his break-up with the singer, the 28-year-old Wales rugby international revealed he felt so 'raw' that he has pleaded for a release from his rugby club for 'compassionate reasons … and my mental state of mind'.

Henson and Miss Church, 24, ended their volatile five-year romance in May, only weeks after their engagement.

Fledgling romance: Charlotte says Jonathan is a 'handsome guy' but Gavin Henson says it tears him apart to see another man with his children

Miss Church – who was nicknamed the Voice of an Angel after finding fame as a child – is now in a relationship with musician Jonathan Powell.

Speaking about his former fiancee’s new boyfriend, an emotional Henson said: 'It’s the worst thing in the world to see your kids being brought up by another fella. It’s not nice at all.

'I don’t want people feeling sorry for me, it goes on and I’ve got to deal with it and I’m dealing with it.

'The last thing I want to do is bad-mouth Charlotte. I’m never going to do that – she’s the mother of my kids.

'We’re just opposites and it just hasn’t worked out.

Bold outfit: Charlotte wore a sheer lace dress over a body suit

'It’s a nightmare situation and it’s been in the tabloids at the weekend again.'

Pain was etched on his face as he talked about his children, one-year-old Dexter and two-year-old Ruby, during the interview on BBC Breakfast.

Henson, who has signed up to star on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, said: 'I am trying to be the best father I can be when I see them – which is limited – but I want to make my kids proud and for them to see me play rugby.'

His comments came hours after Miss Church appeared alongside Powell at a 'warm-up' gig at a pub in Balham, South London, ahead of the release of her new album, Back To Scratch.

She was accompanied by 23-year-old Powell as he sang backing vocals and played the guitar.

They exchanged loving glances throughout the intimate set in The Bedford pub as she sang songs from the album, which Powell helped write.

'Raw': Gavin Henson spoke to the BBC about his pain from seeing Charlotte with another man

Looking svelte, Miss Church performed barefoot in a glittery, seethrough black lace dress.

Speaking for the first time about her new romance, she said: 'Jonathan is a handsome guy and really cool and we have worked together a lot. We get on well, so we’ll see how it goes.'

Before the break up: The couple with their son Dexter and daughter Ruby

The couple met in Miss Church’s mother’s local pub, the Robin Hood, in Cardiff, although she insisted nothing happened before she and Henson split.

She said: 'Both Jonathan and I ended our relationships long before either of us even thought of moving on.'

Despite Miss Church’s upbeat remarks, Henson made it clear that he is still feeling distraught.

He is on unpaid leave from his club, Ospreys, and injuries appear to have all but finished his international dreams.

Henson said he wanted to be released from the club so he can have a fresh start away from Wales, but could not as Miss Church lives in Cardiff with their children.

'It’s just tough,' he said. 'It’s because I know the players so well and obviously there’ll be banter and obviously the personal relationship with Charlotte is in all the papers. They'll be asking me questions and I’m not quite ready for that. I'm a bit raw, to be honest.

'I had heart-to-heart talks with the Ospreys, I opened my heart to them really, told them what had gone on. I told them for compassionate reasons, for my mental state of mind, I need to go somewhere for the season.

'I don’t want to face it. I want to be somewhere new where people are a little bit too respectful to ask about my business and just don’t know who I am – just have a fresh club and see where I am rugby-wise and then come back to Wales.'

His manager, Matt Ginvert, told the Daily Mail that although this was Henson’s desire, nothing had been confirmed yet.

Cheryl Cole is a prima ballerina in stunning video for new single Promise This

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAafPrM81sUendofvid

By Ben Todd

Balletic: Cheryl Cole is seen wearing pointe shoes with her hair tied back in the video for her new single Promise This

It would be fair to say quite a lot has changed in Cheryl Cole's personal life since the release of her last record.

In the intervening period, Cheryl Cole, 27, has been struck down by malaria, and divorced her ex-husband, footballer Ashley.

However, despite her woes, Mrs Cole has been determined to continue with her burgeoning music career.

*** Listen to Promise This below ***

In the aftermath of the breakdown of her marriage and then as she recovered from malaria this summer, the singer headed to Los Angeles to continue work on the new record.

This morning, the new track, called Promise This, was aired for the first time on Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles’ breakfast programme.

Somewhat unsurprisingly it won rave reviews from her fans on the Internet. The new album will follow in November.

Now these photographs from the video for the new single have emerged.

Graceful: Cheryl is seen with a dancer in the video, which was directed by Sophie Muller

They show Miss Cole – with simply styled swept back hair – as a ballerina as well as dancing with a mystery man dressed all in black.

The video was directed by Sophie Muller, who has worked with stars including Beyonce Knowles, Coldplay, Gwen Stefani and the Kings Of Leon in the past.

Mrs Cole was granted her decree nisi from Chelsea and England footballer Ashley Cole at the beginning of this month.

The pair, who married in July 2006, separated in February after he was accused of cheating on her with a number of women.

She then contracted malaria following a trip to Tanzania in June.

The Girls Aloud star's first album 3 Words went to No1 last November as did her debut solo single Fight For This Love.

Buona sera, Italia! Kylie performs her hit single All The Lovers at day two of Miss Italia 2010 last night

If anyone was going to give the contestants of a beauty contest a run for their money then it would be Kylie Minogue.

The pop princess nearly diverted the attention away from the girls hoping to be crowned Miss Italy last night as she put on a sexy performance at the annual event.

The singer shimmied in white satin Dolce & Gabbana as she performed her hit single All The Lovers for the audience.

Scroll down for the videos...

Surrounded by half-naked dancers - which has become the norm for the Aussie superstar these days - she gyrated and writhed on the round white podium much to the delight of the crowd.

And while her set and her beautiful dress were very modern and chic, she sported a very Eighties hairdo, her long wavy locks swept over to one side of her head.

As the special guest of day two of the pageant, which is now in its 71st year, she started her set with a performance of her new song Get Outta My Way.

Sexy signora: Kylie starts her performance lying on a white podium surrounded by dancers

Grazie, tutto: Kylie smiles appreciatively at the Italian audience as she finishes her set

And satin was clearly the fabric of the night for Miss Minogue, as she arrived on the stage in a very short Persian green dress, also by Dolce & Gabbana.

Starting her song perched atop a chair, she was soon on her feet as she launched into the catchy dance song.

It is her second single from her album Aphrodite and will be released on September 27.

Green goddess: Kylie looked stunning in a Persian green satin dress as she began her set

Pop princess: Kylie dazzled the Italian audience in her very short dress and very high sparkly gold heels

Before she arrived at the annual event, which is held in the northern town of Salsomaggiore Terme, she excitedly took to her Twitter page.

She wrote: 'Italy ... here I come!!! See you all later this evening :) CIAO!!!!!!'
The pageant final takes place tonight and actress Sharon Stone is expected to attend as the guest of honour judge and will decide the winner alongside presenter Milly Carlucci and Prince of Emanuele Filiberto, grandson of Italy’s last king, Umberto II.

Get on your feet! Kylie and her half-naked dancers strut their stuff

Hopeful: The 60 contestants show off their dancing skills to the judges

This weekend, Kylie gave a frank interview to the Mail on Sunday's You magazine in which she revealed that she is not ready to stop performing yet.

The tireless pop star joked that she will be 'the one in the old people’s home doing high-kicks in the corner'.

But Kylie, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, also admitted that the medication – which continues for five years after treatment – has troubling side effects, including nausea and headaches which leaves her in 'floods of tears'.

Nadine Coyle poses provocatively in artwork for new single Insatiable

Sultry: Nadine Coyle poses provocatively in the artwork for new single Insatiable

Nadine Coyle has got some tough competition as she prepares to release her debut solo single.

With Girls Aloud bandmate Cheryl Cole having proved a huge hit with her own solo career, the pressure is on Nadine to follow in Ms Cole's multi-talented footsteps.

But the 25-year-old singer is determined to give it her best shot, and has released artwork for her new single Insatiable which shows her posing provocatively.
Scroll down to hear a snippet of Insatiable

In the photograph, Nadine is seen looking sultry as she stares into the camera - wearing only a tight red skirt and a sheepskin jacket.

Nadine is preparing to release her debut single Insatiable on November 1st, with the album of the same name following on November 8th.

Talking about the upcoming track, which was co-written with legendary songwriter Guy Chambers, Nadine said she knew it was going to be a hit as soon as they finished it, because it was so catchy.

Bandmates: It is unclear whether Nadine will be returning to Girls Aloud

She said: 'I’m a pop artist, and that’s what pop songs should do at their best. I just knew we had something special when we wrote that song.'

And Nadine thinks the album, which features 13 songs all written or co-written by her, is her best work to date, adding: 'It had to be right.

'It had to be my sound and my songs. Insatiable feels like that.'

But creating the album and single was a long and difficult process for Nadine, who eventually decided to set up her own record label Black Pen Records so she could take complete control.

Explaining the decision, Nadine said: 'So much has changed in the way artists work now. I think we have learned that the traditional model for selling an album isn’t the only way of doing things.

'To be able to create an album where you are in complete control of your own work is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for an artist.’

Competition: Nadine's Girls Aloud bandmate Cheryl Cole has proved a huge success with her solo career

Nadine also revealed this morning that she will be performing the single, and some other tracks from the album, at London's G-A-Y on Saturday 30th October.

She wrote on Twitter this morning: 'Soooo excited to be performing new songs for the first time at G-A-Y... Halloween weekend it's going to be madness.. see you there! woohoo.'

The album and single release will mark a return to the music industry for Nadine, who has been in America since Girls Aloud announced in April 2009 they would be taking a break.

And while Sarah Harding has been concentrating on her acting career with a role in St. Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold, Nicola Roberts has released a make-up range while Kimberley Walsh is presenting a new TV show called Suck My Pop.

But it's Cheryl who has arguably proved the most successful, with numerous hit singles including Fight For This Love and Parachutes as well as a hugely popular debut album under her belt.

With plans to record a new album at the end of the year, Girls Aloud fans are getting ready to welcome their favourite group back to the music circuit.

Excited: Nadine, pictured in London last month, is excited about the release

However, in a recent interview, Nicola neatly avoided a question on the rumours that Nadine will not be joining the girls upon their return.

She said: 'I think it’s just one of those things as a band we’ve just always kind of had from day one, but at the moment it seems to be very prominent.

'We were in the band for day and had a press conference and they were already asking "When’s Nadine leaving the band?" It’s kind of just one of those things that’s part and parcel of the whole job.'
