X Factor 2010: Cher Lloyd becomes victim of malicious YouTube hate campaign

In the spotlight: X Factor contestant Cheryl Lloyd features in a five minute YouTube video which accuses her of being a bully and make lewd allegations

The X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd is the victim of a bullying internet hate campaign featuring a YouTube video branding her a liar and a cheat.

The five minute clip has had almost one million hits and features footage, which also accuses her of being a bully and for heavily partying in the early stages of the show instead of concentrating on her performance.

Thousands have commented on the video, which claims to highlight discrepancies between what the 17-year-old has said about writing her own lyrics for some of her early performances and the reality.

Some have defended the teenager and branded the anonymously posted video and campaign – which is also linked to a Facebook group with more than 3000 members – as malicious and bitter.

Others insisted the campaign suggested that her success on the show had been unfair and the hype around her unwarranted.

It also makes lewd allegations about her personal life.

Inspiration: The X Factor contestant, wearing jewellery by Me & Zena, looks edgy in the shoot, with Cheryl seen right in a similar type of outfit on stage back in May

Miss Cole and Simon Cowell have both hailed the young singer as a breath of fresh air and bringing originality to the show.

It is the second time someone from this year’s series has been at the centre of an internet bullying campaign.

Earlier this month Katie Waissel threatened to quit the show following a ‘bullying campaign’ against her.

Rehearsal time: Katie Waissel has also been the subject of a hate campaign. Right, Rebecca Ferguson

The 24-year-old suffered an emotional meltdown in the X Factor house after a public backlash against her.

She was the subject of an internet campaign to stop viewers voting for her after fans argued that her mentor Miss Cole should not have picked her as one of her acts for the live finals.

She had failed to complete two of her three songs during the audition process yet was still put through ahead of viewers’ favourite Gamu Nhengu, who is now facing the threat of deportation to her native Zimbabwe.

Tension in the ranks: Breathtakingly confident Wardman, left, says she doesn't want to just be known as 'the pretty one'

The ease at which it is able to whip up a campaign through social networking and video sharing sites such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube highlights the dangers of cyber bullying.

Statistics show as many as one in five children have been at the receiving end of abuse via the internet or a mobile phone.

This year's Anti-Bullying Alliance survey revealed that 18 per cent of ten and 11-year-olds had been cyber-bullied while in their own home.

Manufactured pop: Boyband One Direction, pictured at rehearsals today, were put together by Simon Cowell

There has also been a rise in suicides by teenage victims of cyber-bullying, youngsters so distraught by their torment they are driven to take their own lives.

The rise of hate campaigns for those taking part in The X Factor also raises questions about how well equipped aspiring contestants are to handle these things when they are thrust into the public eye.

The series has employed a psychologist to monitor the well-being of contestants during and after the show.

Dannii's boys: Matt Cardle arrived with his guitar in hand while Aiden Grimshaw was all wrapped up against the cold

Miss Lloyd already appears nervous and frail, and her tiny frame has raised concerns about her eating habits.

The student from Malvern last week insisted: ‘I am eating. There is no problem. Of course I am eating I wouldn’t be able to perform if I wasn’t.’

This week’s theme for The X Factor is Guilty Pleasures in which the remaining 12 contestants will sing two songs each, as well as a group performance.

Insiders said the show had been hit by week – producers were forced to call in pest control after the finalists discovered their was a maggot infestation in their house.

It is understood that there has been in-fighting among some of the key production team of the show, with disputes over song choices, costumes and singing style.

Katie Waissel back in good health after fainting during shopping spree

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Dazed: Katie Waissel slumped on the floor at Topshop on Wednesday

She has been described as the most disliked X Factor contestant of all time.

And it seems the constant criticism has finally taken its toll on Katie Waissel.

The petite blonde, 24, fainted during a shopping spree in London.

Cheery: Katie looked happy and in a cheerful mood as she arrived for rehearsals at Wembley's Fountain Studios yesterday

The show’s finalists had been given the run of the flagship TopShop store in Oxford Circus, owned by Simon Cowell’s close friend and business partner, Sir Philip Green.
But Miss Waissel stunned her competitors as she collapsed against a wall in the shop on Wednesday night.

A show source said: ‘Katie has no idea what happened. She was feeling fine and all of a sudden she just slumped to the ground.

‘She can’t remember what happened at all. It was all a bit of a drama – she didn’t see a doctor, but thinks that her blood sugar may have been on the low side.
‘The producers think she should see a doctor just to make sure everything’s okay.’

Shopping spree: Katie Waissel appeared healthy as she left Topshop following an apparent 'collapse' in the store

The scene: Katie was shopping in the Oxford Street branch when the incident occurred

Miss Waissel was left distraught this week after she was accused of manufacturing rumours that she had been caught in bed with fellow contestant Matt Cardle.

A source close to the singer said that her parents, Diana and Maurice, called the show’s bosses following her collapse and told them: ‘We’re worried this show is turning our daughter into a monster.’

The source added: ‘They are just being strong for Katie as this is her dream, but when you have your daughter on the other end of the phone crying, it’s extremely hard.’
An X Factor spokesperson said: 'Katie felt unwell and there were trained first aiders on hand to look after her. She is feeling fine today.'
But, whatever the reason, it seems the collapse wasn't too serious, as the 24-year-old singer was later seen leaving Topshop laden with shopping bags thought to contain freebies from the clothing store.

Trendy? Cher Lloyd wore another unique outfit as she arrived at rehearsals

Hopefuls: Rebecca Ferguson and Treyc Cohen also looked wintry and chic as they arrived yesterday

It's not the first time Katie has struggled to cope during her time on the X Factor.
The singer, who was put through to this weekend's shows after her performance of Etta James's I Would Rather Go Blind, returned home for some support from her mother after a particularly bad week earlier this month.

Talking about her daughter returning home, Katie's mother Diana explained to Heat magazine this week: 'Katie hadn’t been very well, she had a really bad sore throat and was feeling under the weather.

Supporting their acts: Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue arrive at Fountain Studios for rehearsals on Thursday

'She went to the doctor, who put her on a course of antibiotics and gave her the afternoon off, so she thought she’d surprise me and come home for dinner. It was good to catch up.

'We watched the show together on TV, looked back at it all and chatted, had supper together, and then she went back. There was absolutely no special treatment.'

Katie also seemed healthy and happy as she arrived for rehearsals at Wembley's Fountain Studios today, but was wrapped up warm in a hat, scarf and heavy hooded coat.

She was recently accused of fabricating a sex scandal in an attempt to stay on the show.

Some contestants are also said to think she was behind a story suggesting she enjoyed a fling with Matt Cardle, who is currently favourite to win the competition.
Both have now agreed their evening had been less romantic than suggested.

Despite Miss Waissel denying she was behind the story, her fellow contestants are said to have frozen her out, refusing to speak to her and even calling her ‘Katie Weasel’.

'Cher reminds me of me, completely': Cheryl Cole reveals her true feelings about the X Factor girls

By SARAH BULL

Red hot: Cheryl Cole arrived at the Radio 1 studios in London this morning for an interview with Sara Cox

Cher, Katie and the girls enjoy a late-night shopping spree at Topshop

She has been constantly compared to her mentor Cheryl Cole since her very first audition on The X Factor.

And now Cheryl has revealed she can 'completely' see a likeness between herself and 17-year-old Cher Lloyd, who is currently causing a storm on the ITV show.

Cheryl made the admission during an interview with Sara Cox on Radio 1 this morning, where she also spoke about her hopes for her other contestants, including Katie Waissel and Rebecca Ferguson.

Sleek: Cheryl wore tight khaki jeans, a black top and black leather jacket
After successfully navigating herself through the hordes of fans outside the Radio 1 building, Cheryl made her way inside, looking stunning in a pair of khaki skinny jeans, black lace top and a black leather jacket.

Talking to Sara, who is standing in for Chris Moyles on the show, Cheryl said she has definitely noticed a resemblance between herself and the teenager.

She said: 'She reminds me of a young me completely. Even the type of music she listens to, how she performs.

Fan-friendly: Cheryl signed autographs for eager fans as she arrived at the Radio Two studios later this morning

Taking a hike: Cheryl makes an escape from the back of the studios

'Even the way she performs - you know, when you forget the camera is there and pull faces, she's doing that at the moment.

Mini me: Cheryl said Cher reminds her of herself 'completely'

'People just need to get used to the performance.'
And Cheryl also spoke about rumours Cher has been causing issues with her attitude in recent weeks, insisting there has been no trouble with the singer.
She said: 'I think she is 17, she's got that teenage edge going on. She is different. And I get her completely.

'All the girls are great girls, honestly. I have to work with them as well - I wouldn't put them through if I didn't think I could.'

Referring to a report Cher had thrown a 'tantrum' over an outfit which had been picked out for her for last weekend's live performance, Cheryl said: 'I like to hear their opinions.

'I'm not going to say, "That's what you're wearing, that's what you're doing".
'But there's no stropping going on, I wouldn't be able to handle that.'
From the clothes to the way she holds herself, there are undeniable likenesses between Cher and Cheryl.

And another thing the pair have both been criticised for is their weight.
But Cheryl said people concerned about 'frail' size-six Cher shouldn't be worried, as the teenager doesn't stop eating.

She said: 'Whenever I see Cher she has a chocolate bar in her mouth - I actually don't know where it goes.

'She is very very petite naturally, she's a tiny little thing. She hasn't grown into a woman yet.'

Another of Cheryl's girls who has been causing controversy recently is Katie Waissel, who was put through despite not being able to complete her audition at the judges' houses stage of the show.

But Cheryl did admit that Katie, 24, isn't coming across too well to viewers.
She said: 'You know what it is for me with Katie, she comes into my room and we'll just be chatting and she's like relaxed and she's comfortable.

Shopping trip: Katie Waissel (l) and Rebecca Ferguson joined fellow contestants on a retail therapy trip in Topshop on Oxford Street last night

'And then you put it in a front of a camera and she's a bit more mechanical and that's something I need to work on her with - being at ease in front of the cameras, saying what she thinks she should instead of what she wants to say.'

However, Cheryl did praise Katie for being able to get up on stage and sing on the first live show of The X Factor despite countless negative reports about her.

She said: 'Can you imagine? Just put yourself in her position. I don't think I could have got on the stage with the scrutiny and whatever. And she can really sing.'

Belle Amie: Sophie Wardman (l) and Esther Campbell stocked up on this season's trendiest clothes

Colourful: Cheryl's wild card Treyc Cohen (l) wore a bright leopard-print top, while Sophia wore a cool pair of Statue of Liberty tights

And referring to one of her other contestants, Rebecca Ferguson, Cheryl added: 'She is somebody everybody can see she is growing every week - she is blossoming.'

As well as who is wearing what on the live shows, viewers tune in to see the on-screen banter between Cheryl and fellow judge Simon Cowell.

Speaking about their 'rivalry', Cheryl admitted: 'He knows which buttons to press with me!'

Good samaritan: Rebecca digs some change out for a homeless man

Friendly: The singer also stopped for a brief chat with the man outside rehearsals

One of the most controversial comments Simon made was when he said Cheryl was looking 'less orange' this weekend, after her slightly over-tanned appearance on the first live final show.

Cheryl said: 'I thought, "Oh don't start with me on live TV". Less orange, huh? I don't know what that's about.

'And I'm not being funny, he can't tell me about looking orange - out of everyone on the panel.'

Heading home: Laden with shopping bags after their trip, the girls head home

But Cheryl says she sometimes regrets the things she says in retaliation, and admits she should think more about what she says before she says it.

She laughed: 'I can't help myself. Sometimes when I'm going out and I do think maybe I should bite my tongue but I can't help myself, especially when I've got four people to defend.'

This week the contestants will be performing tracks which come under the Guilty Pleasures category, and Cheryl says she is 'really happy' with the song choices.

Katie nicknamed 'Katie Weasel' by fellow contestants as she becomes one of reality TV's most unpopular wannabes

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Smiling through the pain: Katie Waissel is apparently finding it difficult to bond with her fellow X Factor contestants

She has upset fans of The X Factor and her fellow contestants.

So if Katie Waissel entered the ITV talent show dreaming of popularity, it seems she has some way to go.

The 24-year-old is said to have become one of reality TV’s most unpopular wannabes after she was accused of fabricating a sex scandal in an attempt to stay on the show.

Retail therapy: The 24-year-old was seen out shopping in Covent Garden in a break from rehearsals

Miss Waissel, from Pinner, North-West London, was already a target for X Factor devotees after it emerged she had a record deal in the U.S. when she first auditioned for the show.

She then caused uproar after reaching the final stages at the expense of viewers’ favourite Gamu Nhengu.

Fans were yesterday flooding internet forums with angry messages, one labelling Miss Waissel ‘desperate’.

Some contestants are also said to think she was behind a story suggesting she enjoyed a fling with Matt Cardle, favourite to win the competition.

Both have agreed their evening had been less romantic than suggested.

Despite Miss Waissel denying she was behind the story, her fellow contestants are said to have frozen her out, refusing to speak to her and even calling her ‘Katie Weasel’.

Now Miss Waissel's mother Diana has entered the row, revealing tension is growing between her daughter and Cher Lloyd, 17.

Sheltered from the rain: Treyc and Katie share an umbrella as they walk along in Covent Garden

Nice moves, girls! Katie and Treyc leap off the ground as they show off their dance moves

In an interview with this week's Heat magazine, out now, Diana Waissel explained: 'Katie’s not confrontational.

'She’s very diplomatic - if she was in a situation, she would walk away. She’s all about karma. She doesn’t like bad karma.

'But you’re talking about two different people. One’s 24 and one’s 17. I think you learn how to handle things in life the older you get.

Controversy: Cher hasn't been seen since she arrived at rehearsals on Monday

'Katie likes her time alone. She’ll be quite happy to go into her bedroom and shut the door – it gives her inspiration to write her music when she’s like that.'

Head judge Simon Cowell has now reminded them they must focus solely on the singing contest and not become ‘distracted’ with other matters.

An X Factor source revealed: 'All the remaining contestants have been told to concentrate on the music and their songs.

'They have a lot of hard work to do and they shouldn't be distracted at this stage.'

Playing nice for the camera: Cher and Katie share a hug backstage after Saturday night's X Factor show

Cher is also struggling to strike up a bond with her fellow X Factor contestants, with sources saying Cher's hard-hearted determination to win is alienating her from her competitors.

One told Heat: 'Cher's determined to win it, no matter what. It seems she's deliberately put a wedge between herself and the others. She's not there to make friends.'

'Cher is very much the type to want to be the prettiest and most talented wherever she goes. She started wearing quite a lot of make-up and making her hair big because she got attention. It makes her feel...that no one can mess with her.'

And Cher's ex boyfriend has admitted that Cher and Katie are at loggerheads.

Alex Wallis, who she split from just after Boot Camp, told Heat: 'Katie, she says, is a bit hit and miss and can be two different people, a bit 50/50.'

This week, Katie has been accused of leaking a story about her and X Factor favourite Matt Cardle getting together to the newspapers in a bid to get more viewers to like her.

It has since transpired that the pair did share a bed - but only while they watched a DVD together.

Matt is said to have accused Katie of leaking reports to the papers that they were having a secret affair, and has told her to 'stop making stuff up'.

'I've just come out of a relationship and I'm not about to get into another one right now,' he is reported to have said. 'Especially not with you. You're not my type.'

But Katie's mentor Cheryl Cole was quick to come forward to defend the singer, insisting she would never have leaked a story about herself in an attempt to increase her popularity.

Here come the girls: Belle Amie rocked a Sixties look on Saturday night... and narrowly escaped elimination on Sunday

She said: 'She wouldn’t do that. She is such a sweetheart and I think that’s beginning to show. I love our catch-ups in the dressing room.’

Matt isn't the only one to be at the centre of romance rumours, as Cher was previously reported to have struck up a close friendship with One Direction singer Liam Payne.

However, Liam's mother has now come forward to deny the rumours, insisting the teenagers are 'just friends'.

We mean business: Treyc and Aiden get serious

She told New! magazine: 'There’s nothing in it. Liam has a connection with Cher because she’s a similar age and they’re from a similar part of the country.
'And he gave her a hug when she got through at Boot Camp, which was on film. It got blown out of proportion.'

Katie was seen out today at X Factor rehearsals looking chic and boho in a Urban Outfitters T-shirt, jeans and boots and posed with fellow contestants Rebecca and Treyc as they enjoyed some retail therapy during a break from practise.

However, Cher hasn't been spotted since Monday, when she was seen arriving at rehearsals in an on-trend pair of leopard-print trousers.

Playing nice for the camera: Cher Lloyd and Katie Waissel share a hug backstage after Saturday night's X Factor show

The rivalry between Cher Lloyd and Katie Waissel may be intensifying behind closed doors, but they sure know how to play nice for the cameras.

The X Factor hopefuls, who are both in Cheryl Cole's category, hugged for photographers after Saturday night's show.

But it seems things aren't quite so pleasant away from the spotlight.

Rivalry: The X Factor contestants Katie (left) and Cher Lloyd are apparently finding it difficult to get along

The pair, who each have their eyes firmly set on the X Factor crown, are said to be bickering with each other and causing friction with other contestants on the show.
Katie's mother has even admitted there is tension mounting between Katie and Cher, 17, which has really taken its toll on her 24-year-old daughter.

In an interview with this week's Heat magazine, out now, Diana explained: 'Katie’s not confrontational. She’s very diplomatic - if she was in a situation, she would walk away. She’s all about karma. She doesn’t like bad karma.

Cher has also been at the centre of controversy surrounding the X Factor, with many criticising her 'diva-like behaviour'.

While Cher admitted she had thrown a tantrum over a stage outfit last week, it seems her attitude is causing some problems among her fellow contestants.
